SAM.gov (System for Award Management)

SAM.gov is the official U.S. government website where businesses register to do business with the federal government and where agencies post contract opportunities over $25,000.

How It Works

SAM.gov serves two primary functions: entity registration (required to receive federal contracts or grants) and contract opportunity posting. Registration is free and must be renewed annually. SAM.gov replaced multiple legacy systems including CCR, ORCA, and FBO.gov. All active federal solicitations and awards over $25,000 are posted here.

Example

A new contractor registers on SAM.gov, receiving a Unique Entity ID (UEI). They then search contract opportunities filtered by their NAICS codes and location, finding three relevant solicitations to bid on.
