Procurement Portal

A procurement portal is a website where government agencies post solicitations, receive bids, and manage the procurement process. Each agency or jurisdiction may use a different portal platform.

How It Works

The fragmentation of procurement portals is the biggest challenge in government contracting. Federal opportunities are centralized on SAM.gov, but state and local governments use hundreds of different platforms including BidNet Direct, PlanetBids, OpenGov, DemandStar, Bonfire, and many proprietary systems. Manually checking each portal is time-consuming, which is why aggregation tools like GoBidLink exist — to search 1,400+ portals simultaneously.

Example

A contractor wants to find bids in three adjacent counties. County A uses BidNet Direct, County B uses PlanetBids, and County C posts bids as PDFs on their own website. Checking all three requires visiting three different systems with different interfaces and login requirements.
